Terms and Conditions for Keio ChainHack 2025 Hackathon

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern participation in the Keio ChainHack 2025 Hackathon ("Hackathon"). By registering for or participating in the Hackathon, you agree to abide by these Terms.

1. Eligibility

1.1. The Hackathon is open to participants globally, including students, startup founders, and investors.
1.2. Participants must be at least 18 years old or have written permission from a legal guardian to participate.
1.3. Participants can register individually or as part of a team (maximum team size: 5 members).

2. Registration and Participation

2.1. Participants must register by the published deadline using the official Hackathon registration platform.
2.2. Each participant or team must provide accurate and complete information during registration.
2.3. Submissions must align with the Hackathon’s theme and objectives, including integrating tokenomics into the business case.

3. Submission Requirements

3.1. Submissions must be the original work of the participant or team and must not infringe on the intellectual property rights of any third party.
3.2. Each submission must include:

  • A detailed business case that incorporates tokenomics.

  • An optional prototype to support the business idea (if applicable).

3.3. Submissions must be made by the designated deadline. Late submissions will not be accepted.
3.4. Participants retain ownership of their ideas but grant the organizers a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use the submissions for promotional purposes.

4. Judging Criteria

4.1. Submissions will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Innovation

  • Problem Solving/Value Proposition

  • Scalability

  • Market/Industry/Competition Analysis

  • Key Differentiation

  • Tokenomics (mandatory)

  • Technical Prototype (optional)

4.2. Judges' decisions are final and binding.

5. Prizes and Recognition

5.1. The top three winners will receive VC incubation support packages.
5.2. Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or other items.
5.3. Any taxes, fees, or charges associated with prizes are the sole responsibility of the winners.

6. Code of Conduct

6.1. Participants must conduct themselves professionally and respectfully toward other participants, judges, and organizers.
6.2. Harassment, discrimination, or other forms of inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated and may result in disqualification.

7. Intellectual Property and Confidentiality

7.1. Participants retain ownership of their ideas and any intellectual property developed during the Hackathon.
7.2. Participants are encouraged to maintain confidentiality regarding their submissions if they intend to protect intellectual property rights (e.g., by filing patents).
7.3. Organizers and sponsors will not be held liable for any intellectual property disputes arising from participation in the Hackathon.

8. Liability and Indemnity

8.1. Participants agree to release and hold harmless the organizers, sponsors, and partners from any claims, damages, or liabilities arising from participation in the Hackathon.
8.2. Participants assume all risks associated with their participation, including but not limited to travel, accommodation, and technical work.

9. Modification and Cancellation

9.1. The organizers reserve the right to modify or cancel the Hackathon at any time for any reason.
9.2. Participants will be notified of any changes via the contact information provided during registration.

10. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

10.1. These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan.
10.2. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Tokyo, Japan.

11. Agreement to Terms

By registering for the Hackathon, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
